Hi, my name is Ethan. I was fortunate enough to receive one of the Magnolia Incentive bursaries when at Exmouth Community College. I study Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham and have been part of the MI since 2007. The MI has benefited me in many ways since then; from making new friends to support and guidance. My favourite thing about the MI is the chance to meet people from other years that I would not have met otherwise. The many social settings we are engaged in when back from university and during the holidays, really makes the MI more than a charity. it feels more like a second family with a support network that you can’t beat.

Through the MI I was introduced to people who have been able to guide and advise me regarding future career prospects. This has been invaluable. The MI financial support enabled me to make the most of my university experience. As well as a sound grounding with a laptop at the start it allowed me to travel with my friends, trek in the Pyrenees and most of all took some pressure off when work got busy. Through the MI support I have received and the dedication I have seen I have been inspired to give something back and am currently undertaking a primary school construction project in Nepal this summer, something that I would not have been able to achieve without the help from the MI.

I hope that one day I will be able to contribute to the MI and provide support to future recipients to repay everything that has benefited me so much. | Martin Gill 07983 478571 | Mandy Parker 07834 771818
