I remember the interview day for the Magnolia Incentive very clearly; a mixture of nerves, excitement and curiosity! I studied Ancient History and Religious Studies at Cardiff University from 2006 - 2009. I involved myself in a number of activities at University, as advised by the Magnolia Incentive, and am glad I did. By trying out new things and taking advantage of all opportunities that came my way I made the most of my time at University – something that advice from the Magnolia Incentive suggested would be a good approach and for that I am grateful.

I am currently at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and am heading into the final 14 weeks of training. I am hoping to commission in December 2011 and go on to a troop commanders course before being assigned a troop and leading soldiers on operations wherever the Army is deployed over the next few years. Honest and open discussions with mentors have undoubtedly had a positive impact on my decision making process that has lead me to this point.

The experiences and opportunities that have arisen from being a part of the Magnolia Incentive are priceless; the network of talented and unique individuals that winners can interact with is the most valuable part of being awarded a bursary. It is more, much more than just a financial award. | Martin Gill 07983 478571 | Mandy Parker 07834 771818
