My name is Matt Hancock and i was lucky enough to win the Magnolia Bursary Scheme in 2010. Not only has this fantastic opportunity given me the chance to get to know people from all walks of life but it has given me the opportunity to make some fantastic friends. Initially i had set out to become a Physical Education Officer in the Royal Air Force, and had started a Degree in Sports Science and Biomedicine at the University of the West of England. Here i joined a Volunteering Scheme working with high level Athletes across a range of sports and gained a selection of relevant qualifications for the career in which i was pursuing.

I play a lot of sport and after making it onto the South West Athletics Team and Competing to a high level in Jiu-Jitsu (getting me the nickname Jiu-Jitsu Jelly Baby) the Magnolia Incentives' funding helped me travel to Brazil where i was able to train at the highest level. Whilst at University i also joined the Royal Air Force (V) Reserves and have been lucky enough to gain experience and qualifications across Various Adventurous Activities such as Climbing, Diving, Skydiving, Shooting, Paragliding, Sailing, Mountain Biking, Kyacking, Canoeing and Flying.

After my Degree i will be travelling to Japan, Australia, Newzealand, Vietnam, Fiji and Thailand alongside competing at an even higher level in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. After this i will be doing a Masters Degree, most likely in Exeter or Bath, followed by joining the Royal Marine Commandos as an Officer and following my goal of running training. I cannot thank this Scheme enough and am very lucky to be apart of it. | Martin Gill 07983 478571 | Mandy Parker 07834 771818
